While travelling back to office, Sim Yee asked, "Having been here for a month, how do you find Sabah people."
It's normal for people to ask how we feel about a place, that include people and places. She caught me for I had been irritated by a woman over lunch. I was still struggling to swallow her insults in every topics raised over the lunch.
On my profession, she said, "Oh, the Borneo Post, it's all copied from the internet." I corrected her that we have our own reporters to report nation news while we subscribed to wired services for world news.
On writing of food reviews, she said, "If you give the reporters free meals, they will come running writing for you."
On my hometown, Sibu, she told her experience, "I have been to Sibu once. The moment you stepped in the plane, you know you are heading to Sibu, with all the foochows speaking so loudly."
Sim Yee's question forced me not only to swallow the insults, but also to digest them!
Our relationship with people is inseparable from our relationship with God!
Read this,
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'There is no commandment greater than these."
I answered Sim Yee, "I have met many kind souls in Sabah, only one person who has irritated me. Still, she has taught me to love my neighbour. Sabahans are wonderful people."
How about a bowl of chicken soup for the soul today? Here you are, I have just cooked one pot of goodness at this early hours in the morning for my lunch!

Yan, you are indeed one kind soul. Not easy to find these days! In following your blog, I can safely deduce that you are a very tolerant and disciplined lady. I'm glad to be your friend.
I have neighbours who take advantage of my kindness but never mind, I shall bear with it coz as highlighted by you in the Ten Commandments, "Love Thy Neighbour" and I shall take heed.
isn't it possible that she made those comments because she's just plain jealous of the success of your paper & the good work you're doing for it?
& yes, i could do with a bowl of chicken soup now.
You have risen above every thing and come up triumphant after meeting a common woman like her.
She is just a mosquito buzzing around your ears.
Flick it or kill it....WE do meet women like her.
Love our neighbours - walk the second mile - give the left cheek --
Like me 20 or 30 years down the road I thank God above I did not assault some of those insulting women around me. I still live happily to tell stories and look upon Jesus who must have had met the worst people in the world as a good mentor...
Thanks for the chicken soup...
Make sure you have lots more for yourself.
Really a hard question thrown at you. Every place have different people and with different cultures. That women is really rule! Every different place have different culture and style of living. How could she said something like that in front of Sibu people. You are very kind to swallow that and digest it. I will firing at her if I am there.
Yan, it is really important to eat well. The body needs nourishment so as to benefit the soul.
Incidentally my middle child is recovering from flu and I thought of making (kampung) chicken of essence for her using the double boiler. Using the ginseng is a good idea too.
Your chicken soup looks too good!
well, one thing's for sure. I have lots to learn from you in the subject of "Tolerance".
When are you inviting us over for dinner? :)
ilene,
I am just a little slow to get angry as I aged. Or I am slow to react to insults. It has quite a lot to do with age!
That makes it. He..he..
doc,
No, no, she just wants to comment on everything. She is a super-rich woman, I guess. I did not know her at all. We were both guests of the host.
And besides, my paper in Sabah is "struggling". That's the reason I am here to see what I can do!
sarawakiana
Yes, I have the soup all for myself! could have a good share with you, but you are so busy!
You know whom I met at Gaya Sunday Market today? Peing of Shell! She is also here for the dinner! And she said I look great - of course, going to gym everyday, and with the chicken soup. And most of all - very mellow as I aged!
We are all aging gracefully. Thank God and all glory to Him.
Superman,
When I was your age, I think I would also fire her. As said, as we age, we tend to swallow and digest insults easier! Don't believe? Wait till you are my age :)
JoMel,
Hope you have your double-boil chicken soup for the children and hubby today!
I just got myself some more herbs at the sunday market today!
James,
Just drop by anytime! I may not cook for you, but will sure bring you to eat the best food in Kota Kinabalu!
