I have received no less than ten email-forwards on this "Quake and Tsunami on July 22 2009".
The email advised people to stay away from beaches. It reads, "This is a prediction that there will be another tsunami or earthquake hitting on 22 July 2009. Predicted that it is going to be really bad and countries like Malaysia (Sarawak and Sabah), Singapore, Australia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Philippines are going to be badly hit.
Last month, we even asked the meteorological department to comment on this email when many concerned readers called in to inquire. A statement from the department was also published.
I have meetings to attend in KL on 22nd and 23rd July. When I told my colleagues that I would be away on these two days just now during the news briefing meeting, almost all exclaimed in one voice and in one accord,
"Running away from the tsunami? How about us? You stay on 8th Floor, you should be safe. You do not need to run away!"
There is really no place that we can run to, except to the Lord Himself. Remember this old gospel song?

i also received 2 similar email but just disregarded them as "spam". how could anyone predict such a calamity?
just like in 1844 when william miller predicted the 2nd coming of Christ. & we all know the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the nite.
Yan, a caller called into this radio station one morning regarding this "news" and the DJs were very helpful in that they in turn called the meterological department who confirmed that there won't be a tsunami but on that day, we could see Mars moving closer to the sun (or is it the earth). Something like that lah! I'm getting old!
Read somewhere that the tsunami alert has been cancelled! Yippee!! You'll be safe, coz the Lord's watching over you!

This is the first time I'm reading about the "impending' Tsunami (?) Judging by what the others have written, looks like it's gonna be a false alarm. you'll be alright. :)

The "kind thoughts" of friends have actually flooded our mail boxes! The terrible thing is we are actually spreading e-rumours. That may become a stumbling block to others when we think we are providing stepping stone.
It's to easy to click and send. To undo it, not possible! Sigh.

July 22nd is an old friend's birthday. And few days away from my 23rd wedding anniversary. So, joy is coming, not Tsunami.
I remember few years ago, there were much talk about "LaniNa" (correct spelling?) coming. So, we all got prepared for the big rain, big flood etc. It did not come. But we had a new pastor coming to our church. She jokingly said this, "LaniNa" did not come, but Lenita has come." (Her name is Lenita)

aiyo.. there is too much to worry about to worry about a tsunami alert that may or may not come.. i imagine if we can receive such info the govt too would receive such an email and warn us accordingly
