Food for thought

It was a sweet dinner. Sweet means all the food served are sweet, way too sweet for me! All the four items on the hot and cold combination platter are sweet. The fried boneless chicken with three flavours sauce was sweet. Even the deep fried grouper satisfied those having a sweet tooth (menu showed it's apple salad and Thai chilli sauce). I did not pick up the coffee taste from the stir fried lamb shoulder, probably because it was sweet too. And the dessert, Mango pudding - sweet, sweet, sweet!

So, only left with the braised fish tripe soup (mind you, not sharkfins!), the Chinese cabbage with abalone and brococoli and pineapple and seafood fried rice were not sweet!

But, I think the "sweet warmer" of the night at the RM5K per table (guess most part of it goes to charity) was the sweetest of all! Not convinced? Here you are!

The biggest harvest of the night is probably picking up this quote from the MC. He said to the mission of the host - Building towards a green future - with this quote -

Only when the last tree has been cut down;
Only when the last river has been poisoned;
Only when the last fish has been caught;
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.

It's not going to be sweet pondering on this American Indian quote, but food for thought! The quote kept haunting me last night, partly because of the sugar-loaded food, but most part of it is - do we really have to wait till the last fish has been caught, the last tree has been cut down, the last river has been poisoned?

The MC ended the night with an African quote -

"When you plant a tree, never plant only one.
Plant three -
one for shade,
one for fruit,
one for beauty."

Nice thoughts for a nice Sunday! Thanks. RM5K per table is really expensive. But for charity, it is ok.

I've a post on a tree - not for fruit, not for beauty...but for shade. Will publish it one of these days - I cetak rompak the poem! Hehehehehehe!!!

well, even you look sweet! Haha.. Seriously, you look good Yan.

No, we should not have to wait till the last fish has been caught, the last tree cut down, and the last river poisoned. Which is why I advocate: small gestures. Cos' small gestures make big differences.

Superman,

But I think the money that goes to one of the entertainers who made herself a little too cheap is money going into the "longkang". Well, she kept saying that she wanted to show her "longkang".

Well, may be I am too mean!

Anyway, that was an enjoyable evening with colleagues sharing some good conversations. It would be nicer if we had won some tickets to Bisbane, Perth, Seoul, and even London! But, none of us did!
