Life is so daily

Charles Swindoll is one of the authors I like. I read this tonight and would like to share here - trusing God in dailyness of living -

When I was only a boy, the Swindolls occasionally enjoyed a family reunion at my grandfather's bay cottage near the Gulf in deep South Texas. Since the crowds were so large, we'd hire the same man each time to help with the cooking. His name was Coats. His skin was as black as a cast-iron skillet and his quick smile and quaint comments are a lasting memory to me. I remember standing near coats one evening at sunset, watching him smear the sauce on the chunks of beef cooking slowly over a pit of coals. He was telling me about his life, which had been etched with trouble and tragedy. He rubbed his big, leathery hand through my white hair as he knelt down to my height and said:

Little Charles - the hardest thing about life is that it's so daily.

A simple way to say it, but what could be more true? Life is so daily. The tests that come like a flash and last no longer than a dash seldom do more than bring a brief crash. But the marathons - the relentless, incessant, persistent, continual tests that won't go away - ah, these are the ones that bruise but build character.

If finding God's way in the suddenness of storms makes our faith grow broad, then trusting God's wisdom in the "dailyness" of living makes it grow deep. And strong.

"Blessed are those who suffer now, theirs is the Kingdom of God." Did I get that right, Yan?

No new post? Never mind, just to add to my earlier comment, this chorus from a song...
"One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That's all I'm asking from you
Just give me the strength to do every day what I have to do
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
Tomorrow may never be mine
Lord help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time"

STP,

That's nice. I like this chorus very much - one day at a time! That's what life is meant to be!

Thank you for adding such beauty to my post!

doc,

As said by "suituapui" - one day at a time. the long haul will become bearable with Him walking alongside.

Blessings

Hi Yan, Life is like a blanket too short. You pull it up and your toes rebel, you yank it down and shivers meander about your shoulder; but cheerful folks manage to draw their knees up and pass a very comfortable night.

Have a great week and keep well, Lee.

Uncle Lee,

What a hilarious (yes, it is) description of life! It's so daily, so will draw up my knees and keep warm when the blanket is too short. Hey, why not get a new blanket, a longer one where you just do not need to bother whether you sleep with legs stretch to the its full length or curl up? Best is a bigger one where you could share with the partner without pulling left or right :)

bp,

The newly inaugurated President has asked us to have "Hope over Fear" - I think it's appropriate to live our life daily.

Keep well. Hold on to His promises. Let's remind each other.
