Recently, I stumbled into a friend's blog. rubberseeds gave a very detailed account on driving the bents and twists of Sibu roads. While certain parts of the route are my daily route, I have not found it irritating. In fact, I enjoy the part of the route!
Chris always likes me to drop him at the back door gate of the school. Dropping him at the back door gate means a big detour which doubles the journey. It also means I have to drive the bents and twists and even the defects described by rubberseeds. But, I have enjoyed the drive tremendously.
A big detour and set myself on the bendy roads mean a little more time with Chris in the car. We chat little things. We discuss big issues. We enjoy the music in the car. We just enjoy each other company in the luxuries of extra time that we have in hand because Chris is always early for school. He is in the afternoon session.
It's just an enjoyable trip. The traps of the bends and twists are not noticed!I do not see the signs that say AVOID, DO NOT PASS BY, DANGEROUS TURNS!
Having a pleasurable de-tour with Chris squeezed between works is something a working mother like me would not want to miss. And, I say it's noble.
On a second thought today, could we have sometimes enjoyed the many other things in life that look appealing but contain certain traps that we don't see? The pleasures of sin always come accompanied with soundtrack of sweet alluring voices! It is the twisting of the right way, a perversion of the heart.
And we all have some!
"If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4:7
Watch up, a bent in front!

There is no such thing as wasting time when time is spent with our loved ones! In fact I read it somewhere where spouses are encouraged to pick up their kids together so they can chat more in the car!
xD
Quality time with children is every parent's desire, even if that time is spent while travelling on the road, walking or driving.
Your second thought.. "The pleasures of sin always come accompanied with soundtrack of sweet alluring voices!" is a vivid description of some "forbidden" areas to children, but here where I am, they exist right next to residential homes! LOL
Our conscience helps determine what is sin.
I agree about spending that time with your own child in the car. I, too prefer to send my girl on my own because I can at least have a special time with her in the morning since most part of the day will have actvities and other distractions around. Sometimes i feel like i miss most part of her toddler years when I used to work full time and when my second girl was born, I was busy taking care of the baby. In the nights when she has slept, I always ask myself if I had been too rash with discipline or too much 'do nots'. That is why spending time in the mornings and picking her up gives me the crucial time for amends and to explain myself and the love for her.
Wonderful post. Although I'm still single with no kids, I can imagine how wonderful things can be when spending time when them. On a second thought after reading your post, I SHOULD start taking my mom to wherever she wants so that I can spend more time with her, which I have not been doing this... at all.
James,
I am sure you do that often with your proverbs 31 wife - thus, two God-fearing sons! Praise the Lord!
Joe,
That reminds me of the "xxx shop" right at the doorstep of the hotel that I used to put up in Sing-Land. At the residential area? Where? Curious!
Constance,
And the journey seems so short, right? Even running in a traffic jam won't irritate mothers when we squeeze in time to be with the children!
Yes, treasure every moment - that's what a busy mother like me does.
saoirse,
Yes, please do. When I was a young girl like you just starting my career, I went to work as early as 6 am. Then, we have our own social life after work. I did not spend much time with my mum during those days. But, after marriage, I had a few years of undergoing some medical treatment in Singapore. It was then that I spent much time with my mum.
And those were wonderful times - I thank God even for the medical treatment that I had to go through. Without that, I would not have such times with my mum who is now with the Lord.
