In His Hands

It was not a planned trip. But we met in KL, both on business trips.
How did a couple married for 22 years celebrate their anniversary? Well, roses? A dinner? Is that all you could think of?

Having a session of exercising together seems like very unromantic. But, we did that! We stayed in a hotel that is 30-storey. We were located at 20th Floor. We climbed ten floors up, took a lift down to first floor, and climbed up to 30th Floor! I could not have accomplished it if it was not he who gave me some encouragement and said, “You are almost there!”

22 years ago, we scaled the heights of the mountain in the climbing of Mt Kinabalu. Over the twenty-two years, there had not been times that we were short of challenges as high as the heights of the mountains. But, strangely, these are things that challenge us, that hold forth promise of adventure, excitement and fascination.

Didn’t the Psalmist reminds us that in God’s hands are all these challenges make exciting?

In His hand are the depths of the earth;
The heights of the mountains are His also.
The sea is His, for He made it;
For His hands formed the dry land. (Psalm 95:4.5)

Yes, in His hands! He is the one in charge of all the forces that sustain our lives. He is behind all the adventure, the excitement of life, the things that give it flavour and enticement and make it worth living. And even when 22 years later, when I conquered the 30-floor climbing.
