Faith floats

Does your faith floats?

Here is the story - pictures courtesy of my old classmate.

KUCHING: Long Jawe, the farthest settlement in the Rajang River, smack in Bakun Reservoir, is now a “water village”.

The spirit of the people living in the village some 140km from the Bakun dam has not been dampened by the rising water.

This is when logs and drums come in the rescue to float the church. A floating church in Sarawak, it is indeed amazing!

When contacted, Hulu Rejang Member of Parliament Datuk Billy Abit Joo, said he would assist the villagers under his minor rural project allocation.

He also hoped that they would be able to find a permanent site (for the church) when the water level of the dam reached its maximum level so that they would not have to worry about the future of their church.

Abit said he admired the people for having strong faith in their religion despite their many predicaments.

“This is the spirit of the Orang Ulu people who are devout Christians. Despite the difficulties and adversities, they remain faithful to their church and in God.”

Very welcoming
